Guy Clairmont, CFP®

CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER(™)

When I received the results of my first interview as a financial planner I was not offered the job and was told, “We think you’ll spend too much time teaching prospects and not enough time selling them.” I think they hit the nail on the head. You see I think education and information make people comfortable and that’s what I’m striving for in my relationship with my clients. I want them to share everything with me and I want to give them as much information and education as possible to make suitable decisions for them.

In May of 2011, I passed the 2 day-10 hour exam and became certified as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Professional. I believe this designation sets me apart from many of my peers. More importantly it has given me a knowledge base which I believe has benefited my clients greatly. To learn more about the CFP® designation please visit www.letsmakeaplan.org.
Being a part of a tight knit community I find it essential to be part of giving back. I have given my time to youth sports, and have been on the local United Way board. I now serve as a Board Member of the Blandin Foundation.

The community achievement that I am most proud of would be chairing a community action team of local business people. Together we approached the school board twice. Working with our school board we helped make it mandatory that each student that graduates in our area will complete 1 semester of a Personal Financial Management before graduation.
